Summer of 2000. Another pilgrimage to the glider
races. We chose Region 9 in Hobbs, New Mexico. I flew Big Bird with the
short tips (no winglets) in Sports Class and managed to out fly everyone
else; not an easy thing in such a popular contest, and with such
excellent multi-time champion pilots in attendance.
I had the pleasure of sharing the podium (again)
with Dennis and JD. It seems we take turns in this thing.
