I finally convinced Rich and Jay to join the yearly pilgrimage to the
Southern Alps. Consequently, and for the first time, the weather was quite rainy and
we were able to fly very little. However, if I had to choose a place
to be stranded due to rain, Southern France may just be the one. Then there
was this excellent hostel I found in Cap d'Ail, which, for US$11
per person, would let us spend the night and give us breakfast,
all with a killer oceanfront view of the Mediterranean and within
walking distance of Monaco.
Rich, Frankie, Jay and Ian took most of these pix; I went sans camera this time. Thanks,
guys.

Me and Jay in the hostel. Our room had a great oceanview. Our room had a great oceanview. Jay & Frankie near Monaco. One of the piers in Monaco. The most awesome hostel ever. 2 days into the trip, the weather became damp. Palace of the Popes in Avignon. Les Mees, near St. Auban. Les Mees, near St. Auban. Les Mees, near St. Auban. The hill across the river in Sisteron, landmark when you soar over the Durance river. Frankie, me, Jay and Rich in Sisteron. Eric, Rich, Frankie, and I. Best hostel on Earth. We stayed there on the way back as well.
We decided to walk from Cap d'Ail to Monaco, a 20 minute walk during which I caused as much damage as possible to Rich's shoes, including a brief excursion into the sea. I have no idea what was going on here. We're at the train station in Monaco and I guess I finally realised that I shouldn't just walk into the ocean wearing Rich's shoes before a really long walk. Frankie appears largely unconcerned. What an entertaining road between Nice and St. Auban. Wish I had my motorcycle here, or at least one of those Ferraris we saw in Monaco. It was raining, we couldn't fly, so we went to hang out in Avignon. I am inspecting an attractive LS-6/18. We couldn't fly in that weather, so we went hiking to Les Mees. These are very unique rock formations, a landmark in this area. We actually did fly. With Eric nonetheless.
