As hard as it seems to believe, this was my first ever across the
pond. The mission was simple: arrive in Germany and pick up Ron's brand
new ASW-22BL at the Schleicher factory in Poppenhausen. Then travel by
road with the glider, of course, through Switzerland on to St. Auban,
France. There I would take some mountain soaring instruction while Ron
would train for the upcoming 1997 World Gliding Championships. After
that I would take a train and travel across France to Paris, where I
would spend a few days. It all
turned out rather well.
